Job Title: GIS Operator

Job Description:
The GeoInfometrics Solutions Corp., is looking for a young professional who will fill-in the position of Geographic Information System (GIS) Operator and will work with Planning Team of the Company. This is full-time work that requires regular reporting in the head office in Los Banos, Laguna, and must be willing to travel and work at the project sites when necessary.
The position requires the ability to compile, analyze and interpret geospatial data. It also requires the ability to plan and develop projects that will interpret and graphically represent the data collected as part of the land use planning, disaster risk reduction management planning, local climate change planning, and other plans that will be required by the Clients. The ability to organize large amounts of information, plan projects and think creatively is a must. The position requires the ability to work independently or as a team member on multiple projects thus, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely manner is also necessary. The applicant must have a working knowledge of principles, practices, concepts, and techniques of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); of GIS applications, programming languages and development tools. Skill in utilizing computer-aided drafting and mapping tools and programs including AutoCAD software and open source GIS software, ESRI-based GIS software, and its applications are desirable traits.
Responsibilities:
1. Collect data in the field using Global Positioning System (G.P.S.) units and in other secondary sources.
2. Design, implement, and maintain spatial-based mobile field data collection applications, web-based mapping applications, and real-time spatial-based reporting tools.
3. Undertake desk-based data capture (digitizing) to convert paper maps to GIS datasets.
4. Undertake GIS mapping for every project involvement.
5. Convert, import, and export data in and out of the GIS system
6. Create and maintain the structures/geodatabase necessary for GIS data storage for every project involvement.
7. Prepare images, graphics, and maps for public meetings/project workshops and informational purposes. 
8. Conduct GIS training for clients.
9. Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor/consultants.
Qualifications:
Skills and Experience 
• Time Management – The position entails the completion of GIS mapping activities to meet the required deadlines, therefore the right individual must be able to demonstrate strong time management skills and an ability to work under pressure. 
• Self-Motivation – The selected candidate must be highly motivated to succeed in her/his full-time position in GIS and committed to delivering quality service. 
• Excellent Communication – The role will require liaising with both external and internal parties, consultations and presenting results to clients, and communicating effectively with other members of the team. Therefore, successful candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. 
• Proven GIS Skills- Skilled in computer applications including GIS software (open source and commercial software), database applications, and general office applications; skill in creating maps using GIS software for print and web. Proven skill in GIS data analysis and presentation of analysis results both in print and in dashboard.
Education 
• Bachelor’s degree in geographic information systems (GIS), geography, engineering or a related field; 
• At least two years of work experience in GIS or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
• Associate’s degree in computer science, computer-aided drafting or related field and five years of work experience in GIS will be considered as well.
